Internment Vessels

Jerry Haggerty and Joanne Grossman, co-collaborating vessel artists

Jerry, in collaboration with artist and friend Joanne Grossman, created a number of beautiful sculptured and woven vessels

A number of years ago I saw some vessels from a culture in Africa in which people kept the remains of their deceased. According to their myths, the spirit of the deceased also dwelt within the vessel which was regarded as sacred by family and friends. I was inspired to create my own version of these vessels—not as a part of any myth but as an interesting and beautiful form that can be functional as well. In collaboration with artist and friend Joanne Grossman, I created a number of sculptured, woven vessels that we feel are exceptional works of art.

We have chosen two exceptional vessels to feature here: Blue Skies and Podling.
